The ASA National Young Judges & Paraders Competition is based on the goal of expanding the knowledge and skills foundations of the entrants, helping them as youthful individuals to develop their careers. This Competition not only prepares participants for future Agricultural Shows but also offers invaluable personal and professional growth opportunities, engage with industry leaders, enhance your public speaking abilities and build confidence. To do this in a setting that develops interest and skills in Agricultural careers provides a great platform for young people to become involved in our industry.
The criteria for judging emphasize the importance of justifying decisions and articulating them publicly. As judging involves subjective decision-making based on specific production systems and market trends, the ability to communicate these decisions is a critical skill that benefits participants in their professional endeavors. The aim of these competitions is to develop the judging and parading skills of young people to ensure a selection of experienced judges for future Agricultural Shows.
The State Finals of the Young Judges and Handler Competitions are held at designated Shows each year. Competitions are open to anybody interested and finalists who are over 15 years and under 25 years on 1 May in the year of the State Competition and are residents of Tasmania. The winner of the State Final Competitions will then be invited to participate in the National Young Judges Final which is rotated around each state in Australia, and New Zealand.
